NEWS RELEASE NO. 4

How many registered participants FS‘08 to date?
21 national and military official delegations and 84 commercial companies from 23 nations. (see list of participants).

What is the purpose of the show?
The aim is to bring together the experts from NATO and other nations, and industry, to meet and discuss developments in requirements and technologies for international cooperation on all aspects of equipment for the future soldier and policeman. This will include an emphasis on modern combat dress, personal protection devices, soldiers' equipment and battlefield equipment for member states of NATO, Partnership for Peace and the Mediterranean Dialogue.

What is the role in the show of the NATO and the Czech Ministry of Defence?
The uniqueness of this event lies in combining the annual NATO AC/225 (LCG/1 – CCIEP) meeting in Prague, held at the same time as the Exhibition. This NATO group deals with all aspects of personnel clothing and body protection. The FUTURE SOLDIER exhibition and conference brings industry to meet with the key military and government decision makers from NATO and Partner nations.
The Czech MoD acts as the host country to all national exhibitors and official delegates. The Czech Armed Forces are also the biggest exhibitor and, together with the Association of Defence Industry of the Czech Republic, Association of Guns and Ammunition Manufacturers and Sellers. However, the wide range of exhibitors at the show makes it a truly international one for all buyers and sellers.

How we see the inclusion of Police and Public Security experts with the Military?
Increasingly, both military and police forces involved in peacekeeping duties, operate in similar environments, with very similar requirements. Yet these requirements are developed and purchased separately. Bringing these two sectors together should help industry and governments be better placed to work together, bringing savings in their budgets and improving interoperability.

Who are you expecting to attend the show?
Apart from VIP guests and political representation from individual countries, participants at Future Soldier are divided into:
  1. National delegates from NATO, Partnership for Peace and the Mediterranean Dialogue program.
  2. Commercial exhibitors involved in research, development and manufacture.
  3. Academics, instructors and experts from NATO working committees.
  4. The professional military community, and representatives of national procurement centres.
